About the Area
Located one block off the main drag, the Miner’s Pick is situated conveniently within walking distance of Downtown Idaho Springs. This little mining town is rich in Western culture and history. In 1859 gold was discovered by a Missouri native named, George Jackson. His discovery led to a rush of prospectors establishing camps all through the valley in what is now Idaho Springs.
Tourism is Idaho Springs main industry. The Argo Mine is still active and visitors are encouraged to pan for gold. There’s always something fun to do in Clear Creek County!
If you are in the mood to take a guided tour and get a look at some of the Idaho Springs historical marvels up close, the Idaho Springs Historical Society offers walking tours led by an experienced tour guide who will take you on a journey into the past, leading up to the present attractions.
