Property Description:
The Alpen Way Chalet, located in Evergreen is surrounded by dense pine and blue spruce forest, jewel toned flora and gentle wild things. As you drive into the property, you’ll notice a towering copse cottonwood and meandering creek.

There are three separate structures on the property, which allows for a variety of different configurations, including the owner’s quarters. And, because most of the guest rooms on the property are actually full service apartments, it could be used as a family compound or intimate apartment complex.

In the main building are two lower level guest apartments, each with their own kitchen. On the main floor are two additional guest rooms, along with the common area referred to as the Van Cleave Room. It accommodates up to 65 guests for meetings, conferences, business retreats etc. Complete with high speed wireless internet, flat screen TV and DVD player.

The main kitchen is located off the Van Cleave Room. It is well appointed with vaulted ceilings and skylights. A spiral staircase leads up to an area that has a lovely guest room with private deck. There is also an area that is used by the innkeeper as an office/guest room.

The original cottage on the property maintains its original charm and has two bedrooms, bath, kitchen and living room.

The third structure has two guest rooms on the lower level, both newly refurbished. There is a lovely light filled apartment that takes up all the area on the main floor of this building.

Private decks and patio areas grace almost every guest accommodation on the property.

About the area:

The dynamic community of Evergreen is approximately 35 minutes west of Denver and is home to approximately 30,000 people. The elevation is 7,200 feet creating a mild climate in the winter months and a cool relief from the heat of the city during the summer. The town was named by homesteader Dwight P. Wilmot whose house was preserved and currently functions as a private residence. The home is right across the street from the elementary school which is named after this founding father. Though, named Evergreen by Dwight Wilmot, it was Thomas Bergen in 1859 who originally settled in what is now down town Evergreen many others including Wilmot followed suit. The town became a popular spot for the Denver upper crust and was a favorite spot of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Teddy Roosevelt who each vacationed at a fashionable resort. By the 1950s, the town had grown in leaps and bounds and many summer residents decided to make the thriving lumber mill town a year round home. Nestled at the foothills of the lavish Rocky Mountains this town’s elevation is 7,220 feet creating a mild climate in the winter months and a cool oasis from the city heat in the summer months. Evergreen Lake which was created in 1972 by when Bear Creek was dammed is a favorite recreation sight for townies and tourists alike. It offers ice skating in the winter and fishing and boating during the summer. Many hiking trails are just waiting to be explored on foot, mountain bike or horse back. During the colder months these trails are a fantastic place to go snowshoeing. This exciting town is no stranger to the arts and boasts a popular community theatre group, the Evergreen Players who put on various shows during the year. If you’re in the mood for a musical feast you have many fantastic choices including enjoying a night of live music at the near by Red Rocks natural amphitheater, attending a performance of the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra or experiencing the unique and locally renowned hand bell choir. The Little Bear night club and restaurant is also a popular place to enjoy some unique cuisine while listening to live music. For the passionate foodie this town is filled with a diverse variety of fine dining opportunities. Restaurants feature every kind of food imaginable from steaks and chops at the Black Hat Cattle Company to exotic surf and turf at the Chart House. Anything you can dream up can be found on a plate in this exciting mountain town.

If you’re looking for a quite little oasis away from the lights and the noise of the city Evergreen welcomes all weary travelers with open arms!
